Treatment Overlap and Eligibility in Comparative Capsular Graft Studies
Keywords:
treatment overlap, eligibility, graft comparison, superior capsular reconstruction, observational designAbstract
An observational comparison needs patients for whom the alternative strategies were plausible, not merely a dataset containing two graft labels. This conceptual methods synthesis examines treatment overlap in superior capsular reconstruction. A review of graft biology motivates source-related hypotheses, while clinical and causal-methodological literature clarifies the conditions under which those hypotheses can be compared. The framework separates availability, clinical suitability, preference, and delivered treatment. It proposes an eligibility ledger and treatment-support map before propensity modeling or outcome adjustment. It also distinguishes the population represented after matching or weighting from the original clinical cohort. No patient records are newly analyzed and no treatment effect is estimated. The contribution is a design for recognizing where a source comparison is supported, where it relies on extrapolation, and what new observations could strengthen it.
