Abstract

Knowledge-gradient utility values prospective information through an observation model. An exponential allocation setup supplies a particular model of that output. Evaluation should vary tail assumptions separately from the utility defining the decision. It then compares independently checked actions at practical budgets, rather than equating mathematical tractability with empirical adequacy. This focused synthesis develops an empirical comparison that preserves the terminal action, observation process, and total verification cost. Its proposed tests are prospective; no new simulation run, model-training result, or intervention effect is reported.
