The Second-Stage Cost of a Top-Design Subset
Abstract
A structural subset task and top-design allocation meet in the group passed to a later evaluator. Membership precision should be assessed together with that evaluator's checking work. Keeping more candidates can prevent exclusion while increasing total cost. The appropriate subset size depends on the complete terminal decision, not an initial ranking score alone. This focused synthesis develops an empirical comparison that preserves the terminal action, observation process, and total verification cost. Its proposed tests are prospective; no new simulation run, model-training result, or intervention effect is reported.
